Phenomenal Foods Co is bringing hot cereal back! My inspiration to start the business came from my experience losing 60 pounds after adopting a low-carb diet in 2015. I had been dealing with chronic fatigue for about ten years by that time. I saw dozens of doctors gconventional and holistic) and every one of the told me I was perfectly healthy. Dropping carbs was, quite honestly, a desperate attempt just to feel better. The keto diet wasn't as popular then as it is today. In fact, I didn't even know I was doing "keto". All I knew was that eliminating carbohydrates would make it easier for me to lose weight, and maybe then I would feel better. The body aches and brain fog had become debilitating, and I didn't have a ton of vacation or sick time to stay home as often as I needed to. More importantly, I was a single mother with a daughter who depended on me. As with any lifestyle change, this meant I had to learn what a low carb diet would mean for my body. I needed to know what supplements to take, and how to ensure I would have enough energy to operate without eating things like bread, fruit and sugar. I also had to learn an entirely new way of cooking and eating. Creamy Keto Hot Cereal® is something I came up with as a result of that process. I found an ingredient that instantly reminded me of Cream of Wheat (my all-time favorite hot cereal) and decided to experiment with it to come up with a low-carb replacement. After a lot of trial and error in the kitchen, I eventually had something that tasted great and was surprisingly filling. (A feeling that can be illusive on a ketogenic diet.)I loved hot cereal as a child, but as an adult, the carbs were too high for me. I found an amazing holistic doctor at Cleveland Clinic's Center for Integrative Medicine where I tested positive for a non-gluten wheat allergy and an overgrowth of yeast (candida) in my gut. At this point, Cream of Wheat just wasn’t an option for me anymore.
