My current professional focus is UNFCCC negotiations- leading on part of the UK Presidency's COP negotiating remit and representing the UK at the COP climate summit. Other recent policy work has involved leading work on the UK's negotiating parameters for matters related to EU exit, and advancement of evidence-based policy in the nuclear, space and climate sectors. My work has included international engagement and planning, cross- Whitehall coordination, supporting regulations/ legislation through the Parliamentary approval process, Ministerial briefing, government communications, outreach, and development/ delivery of EU- exit contingency measures. I'm also a former chemist, researcher, and Fellow of the Higher Education Authority with several years' experience in the development and characterisation of intelligent medical and dental materials, and disseminating work to audiences ranging from large conferences to private tuition and public engagement.My most recent research work focussed on the development of novel materials for use in dentistry, whose chemistry allows the simultaneous address of several previously insurmountable issues, dramatically increasing the lifespan of dental fillings. My work also substantially surrounded the use of confocal fluorescence illumination, 2- Photon microscopy, and confocal spectroscopic techniques to improve understanding and performance of dentistry techniques using bespoke, home-engineered equipment and software. I've also had several years' rewarding experience supervising, mentoring and teaching students at BSc, Master's, and PhD level, and continue to do this in my spare time.My other R&D work involved the invention of a new class of precipitation polymerisation which enables the straightforward production of bespoke biomimetic materials (please refer to patent and publications). The technology has been applied to a number of regenerative medical developments.I'm extremely passionate about my work and I am very interested to hear about public engagement/ education/ outreach and personal development opportunities, particularly in chemistry, physics, space, policy, climate, politics and negotiations. I'm interested in opportunities to inspire, encourage and support young women interested in STEM subjects and have experience organising outreach events to this end. I'm also eager to connect and collaborate with researchers, industry, other officials and negotiators to discuss current evidence/ research and generate new and exciting answers to technical engineering, scientific and related social issues.
