As an historian at FDA, I served as a subject matter expert on all aspects of FDA's institutional history and the histories of FDA-regulated products. I conducted research on the agency's history, gave presentations and created educational materials, developed physical and virtual exhibits, managed research and archival records, planned for the digitization and preservation of records, provided expert counsel, built relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and responded to requests for information.

As part of a small and dedicated production team, I played a variety of roles in telling the story of how the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and the Medical Civil Rights Movement desegregated U.S. hospitals in the initial rollout of the Medicare program. I was centrally involved in planning and executing archival and field research, conducting oral history interviews, script writing, continuous project management, relationship building, grant writing, and website development.

I also strategized membership diversification and recruitment--growing membership 20 percent in my three months at NHA--and collaborated on the development of a digital interface for a local humanities organizing project in multiple areas throughout the country.

I provided expert historical advice on the development of an exhibit about this history of the Mountainside Nursing School in Montclair, NJ, which involved collaborating on the development of wall text and outreach materials, and delivering a public lecture on the history of Progressive Era nursing. I also helped to train museum docents, providing information about the history of medicine and public health in the 19th century to augment tours of an Early National home and former African American YWCA. And I helped to maintain archival records and updated finding aids.

For the first 5 years of my doctoral education at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York I was awarded an Enhanced Chancellors fellowship, which carried research and teaching duties, as well as a writing fellowship. I spent a year as a research assistant for Executive Director Joshua Freeman, conducting research on a variety of subjects in US Labor History and US economic and labor policy in the 1970s and 1980s. I fulfilled my teaching service at Lehman College where over the course of 6 semesters I taught the second half of the U.S. history survey, and created American Studies courses about the history of American health and illness and urban history.

As a member of the History Department, I was the sole instructor and curriculum designer for both sections of the U.S. history survey courses, as well as American Studies courses about the history of American health and illness and urban history.

As a senior paralegal, I was responsible for communicating with clients, coordinating with law enforcement officials and private detectives, drafting and editing briefs and motions, and conducting legal research. Our cases generally involved fraud, employee grievance and/or discrimination suits.
