About Bob Williams

Bob brings the entrepreneur's perspective to the venture business. He is a veteran of five start-ups and his track record as an entrepreneur includes 3 IPOs and 1 acquisition. Among the more notable companies Bob helped to build as an operating executive were Ingres, Verity, and NetManage -- all three of which had successful IPOs.Subsequent to his operational roles in startups, Bob spent 10 years with Bay Partners where he made over 20 venture investments, raised four funds and grew capital under management from $140M to $1B. At EMC Ventures Bob focused on Security investments and enterprise infrastructure for both datacenter and cloud. His successful deal exits include Weblogic (NASDAQ: BEAS), SonicWall (NASDAQ: SNWL), PlaceWare (NASDAQ: MSFT), Nanogram Devices (NYSE: GB), NetScaler (NASDAQ: CTXS), NeoPhotonics (NYSE: NPTN), Tealeaf (NYSE: IBM), ZenPrise (NASDAQ: CTXS), Zscaler (NASDAQ: ZS) and Twistlock (NYSE: PANW).Bob has also been an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Silicon Valley Campus, teaching Software Development and Entrepreneurship in the graduate computer science program. He has an undergraduate degree with Honors from Dartmouth College, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He enjoys skiing, cycling, tennis and speaks fluent French and German.
