Vic Costello has more than twenty-five years of experience in media education. He is an Associate Professor of Cinema and Television Arts and Director of the Communications Core Curriculum and Minor in the School of Communications at Elon University.His textbook "Multimedia Foundations: Core Concepts for Digital Design” is published by Routledge and is now in its 3rd edition (2023). The book’s 14 chapters cover a wide variety of topics including: digital file management, project planning, visual communication, graphics, text, photography, audio and video production and editing, user interface design, and web coding. Multimedia Foundations is printed in full-color with 502 pages and over 350 illustrations. Before transitioning into academics, Costello worked professionally for seven years in broadcasting and corporate communications. Throughout much of his career, he has also worked concurrently as a freelance technical director, video producer, and creative consultant for corporate meetings, live events, and awards shows. Costello is a longstanding member of the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) and served as the board president in 2021-22, and as a past producer and chair and current advisory committee member for the BEA Festival of Media Arts.
