In 2007, he founded CUSH Capital Management and was recognized by Morningstar in 2011 for successfully shepherding client assets through the worst recession of our lifetimes. Prior to founding CUSH Capital, he served as Chief Investment Officer with Legacy Investment Management, and was formerly with Kornitzer Capital Management and DeMarche & Associates.As a way to give back to the community Vern serves as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting and Finance for the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Vern is a CFA Charterholder and Certified Public Accountant. He holds an MBA and a Masters of Accountancy degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and a BS in Finance from Kansas State. As the Chief Investment Officer for Two West, Vern leads the firm’s investment committee in the implementation of our evidenced based investment philosophy. This approach draws heavily on academic research and widely recognized empirical studies that have been show to add value over meaningful periods of time (decades, not years). He is well-versed in Modern Portfolio Theory and has developed a strong foundation in post-modern behavioral finance and Socially Responsible Investing.
