Fintech startup based in Charlotte, NC that developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform designed for the wealth advisory and asset management industries. The platform, called Equilla, provides advisors and PMs with advanced performance based rebalancing of their portfolios based on real market conditions (vs. traditional rebalancing based on the calendar). I joined the executive leadership team in August of 2017 as a Partner and the CEO.In this role, I led the effort to bring over 3 years worth of R&D and model testing of our performance based rebalancing platform to the wealth advisory and asset management markets. Led efforts of the team to do fundraising (secured a seed round in Q1 of 2018); developed and executed marketing and re-branding of company and solution (led to award for Top 10 Advisory Tech in 2018); built an agile and complimentary team of experienced professionals to drive strategic objectives; and generally handled day-to-day leadership responsibilities (e.g. P&L responsibility, pitch dev and outreach, projections, pivot decisions based on customer discovery, etc.).

Start-up hardware company that has developed a proprietary platform technology designed for distributed energy markets as well as for improving operational efficiency. Bringing experience in the utility/energy sector, development of early stage energy companies, and entrepreneurial growth/exit to help develop Emrgy's strategy and execution.As the company's second person in and partner, I helped achieve growth in fundraising (over $1.5MM from early stage investors); employee growth (recruitment and hiring of staff/interns); base operations (including office space at ATDC, company process/procedures, P&L management, etc.); establishing of marketing presence and outreach (built website, social media engagement, working with press, messaging, etc.); and a range of other early stage strategic activities. These efforts led to the first tech implementation with key customers, an increase in industry presence and recognition (including the Atlanta Business Chronicle award for "Georgia's Top Startup"), and establishing a strong foundation for next stage investment/growth.

In the ETO I was working on innovative technology solutions with a strong focus on the Internet of Things (IoT) as well as broader areas including home energy management, energy efficiency, plug in electric vehicles and associated infrastructure, smart grid hardware and software, and other emerging technologies. Additionally I lead efforts for external engagement for the group (e.g. Universities, trade/ally groups, conferences, etc.).During this time, I helped our innovative efforts receive additional recognition and partnerships both domestically and internationally (e.g. partnerships in China & Japan); closely coordinated key collaborations with UNCC as Implementation Team Chairman to bring access to new facilities and key talent to push innovation; managed and delivered key technology initiatives that were often first of their kind in the energy industry; and helped broaden our domain expertise by expanding our strategic vision through entities such as the Emerging Technologies Coordinating Council based in California.

As a consultant I worked with Duke's marketing and web applications team delivering solutions ranging from energy efficiency regulated tracking solutions to datamart tools for marketing reporting. I also successfully spearheaded earliest intro to agile project management methodologies across multiple business units.

I came in as the second person to this start-up company focusing on delivering digital transformation via wireless and mobile solutions in the government code enforcement space. In my role I helped prototype and develop products from concept through delivery as well as managing all high profile client installations with large municipalities such as Fairfax Co., Virginia and the City of Las Vegas, Nevada as well as large residential home builders. I also initiated the effort to implement PMO PM methodologies, with more standard waterfall SDLC as well as agile / scrum, along with assisting with sales as a technology SME. As a team leader, I managed an IT team of top notch developers, analysts, and QA for product development and implementations both onshore and offshore.
