In 2012 KBC launched a brand new strategy called 'Pearl'. At the same time, the CEO of KBC Group also formed our team, the 'Pearl team'. We are responsible for the cultural change in the entire KBC group, with a focus on the 16 000 employees in Belgium. I’m honored to be part of the 'Pearl' movement which has totally transformed KBC to a dynamic bank & insurance company where innovation, customer centricity & employee engagement are central. My main responsibilities are: gamification, organizing (international) innovation contests, public speaking, following and implementing international business trends, audiovisual and creative work & internal corporate communication.

As a first member I'm very happy to be able to found and shape the brand new SOC or Security Operations Center. The SOC coordinates and follows up the operational security in the bank and functions as a competence center for security. We also coordinate the 24/7 monitoring team. It is really exciting to build up a new team from scratch!Untill 2014 I was the chairman of the virtual team/community called Committee Operational Security.By 2014 I started a subteam within the SOC called the 'Security Analyst Cell' of around 5 Security Analysts with ethical hacking skills, for which I'm team coordinator. This team is responsible for incident response and all the technical expertises involved.

I worked for the telecom-department of KBC ICT Services. In the network security-team to be exact. What company better to be in the security-team, then a bank!Intrusion Prevention responsible, Vulnerability Assessment responsible, main author of the IOS Security Policy for KBC globally, Telecom-responsible for SIEM, managing and configuring the firewalls, part of the virtual team called ‘TP Security’ which takes care of the operational security management and incidents within the bank

Using the most popular ethical hacking tools Nessus, Nmap & Metasploit I tried to exploit a ‘victim system’ behind the common network firewalls and their built-in IPS capabilities (Juniper, Check Point & Microsoft ISA Server). In that way I made an assessment on how their default & basic configuration holds against attackers.The title of my master thesis was: "Vergelijkende studie van enterprise firewalls", which means “Comparative Study of Enterprise Firewalls” in English.

I learned to work with almost all of the Cisco product range in their two-floor-filling TAC-lab. Truly fascinating.I also did my thesis about the ISP equipment in that lab. The title of my thesis: Implementation of a simulation environment for ISP networks.
