About André Just Vedgren
After a long journey, I have found a new home in Greenland as Director of IT in the Greenlandic Health Care system based in Nuuk. By far the most challenging and interesting job I have had so far. But with fabulous colleagues to get me through the day. And if there ever was a job with purpose, this is the one!Like others, I started off on the tecnical side. But after many years of developing bespoke solutions to help small workgroups accomplish things they never would be able to with off the shelf software, I moved up to management at DIS - Study Abroad in Copenhagen. A complex organization with purpose and a department with both both developers, system administrators and supporters.As a consultant, I had worked with the Government of Greenland for some years and wanted to work here on a permanent basis. Why? Because it is both harder (due to scarce ressources, brittle infrastructure and long distances) and easier (due to shorter distances between people and shared goals as well as a widespread want to actually help and solve things together).But while my old FileMaker certificates (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17) are in storage and I speend almost no time developing FileMaker solutions anymore, I still find a background working with systems architecture, information architecture, user interface design, project management, FileMaker Pro, REALbasic, Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, HTML, XML/XSLT, AppleScript, ZyXEL firewalls, Pascal, COMAL80, BASIC (those were the days) helpful to understand the technical side of the challenges we are facing.
