It was completely funded by the Re, the research cell of Kumaraguru College of Technology.• Designed and built a sensing system that detects the passage of vehicles, classifies it based on size and computes the volume flow at any given time. • The sensing system used piezoelectric transducers for sensing. The system was developed to be linked to the cloud to transfer data continuously and to allow remote updating of the system.• An MVP of the system was built, installed and tested for a period of three times, optimizing the design and the code iteratively. A patent has been filed for the system (patent filed:201841010021)• The solution built is 40% cheaper than currently used sensing systems and uses 60% lesser energy.
