I sometimes create quality steampunk/pseudo-historic garments and quality doll clothes from unwanted, discarded items found at garage sales, or hand-me-downs, or the Goodwill bins. These wonderful resources would otherwise often be thrown out or stored uselessly in a box somewhere. . . and forgotten. All re-purposed articles are washed twice and dried hot before they are cut and sewn into these original designs.Design custom clothing and accessories for individuals, or theatrical, or film productions.Sketch rough and detailed drawings of apparel or accessories, and write specifications such as color schemes, construction, material types, and accessory requirements.Select materials and production techniques to be used for products.Purchase new or used clothing and accessory items as needed to complete designs.Draw patterns for articles designed; then cut patterns, and cut material according to patterns, using measuring instruments and scissors.Sew together sections of material to form mockups or samples of garments or articles, using sewing equipment.Research the styles and periods of clothing needed for film or theatrical productions.
