In this role I was responsible for the creation and maintenance of pipeline detailed design GIS data in PODS and APDM in a versioned geodatabase SDE infrastructure. As a member of the technical advisory group I was also involved in continued development of company specific database schemas. This position involved all aspects of pipeline engineering GIS support including generation of a variety of reports, maps, and alignment sheets in addition to maintaining all alignment sheet required GIS data.Within this role I utilized python extensively for the customization or Esri software through creation of scripts and Esri toolboxes. I also utilized FME for data conversion and formatting and built customized Excel macros to facilitate data management tasks. Some use of SQL was also required.Throughout my time at UPI I occasionally acted as the GIS Team Lead which involved managing up to 7 GIS staff, leasing with engineering staff, and ensuring timely delivery of GIS products including Alignment Sheets. This role required excellent time management skills.During the last year of my employment I became heavily involved in alignment sheet generation through use of the New Century sheetcutter software. My role included sheetcutter template design, sheet generation automation, and creation of complex post processing scripts using python. This function involved working closely with GIS and engineering staff, extreme attention to detail, use of custom database views, and advanced computer knowledge such as use of batch files for automated task scheduling.I was also involved with the development and testing of several supporting GIS tools involving requirements gathering, testing of tool beta versions and writing of technical documentation. Furthermore, I spearheaded the development of a metadata deployment mechanism for the PODS and internal database schemas which utilized the X-Ray ArcGIS Add-In, python, and xml style sheets.
