  • Boys & Girls Club Of The Grand Strand
    Executive Director
Boys & Girls Club Of The Grand Strand Mar 2006 - Jun 2014
Responsible for the day to day operations of a two-unit organization with a 295 youth members and an annual operating budget of $379,000 in FY 2014. The Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand provides after school and summer day camp services for at-risk youth the majority of whom qualify for free or reduced cost school meals. Over the course of my eight plus years with the Club I established three signature special events for the organization including the "All Aboard for Kids" Auction held in April, the "Tee it Up for Kids" golf tournament held in August and the "Champions for Youth" Dinner held in December. I also established an Annual Sponsorship program for large corporate donors that we approach once a year for a major sponsorship and which includes benefits for all three of our major annual special events. During my tenure with the organization I established an endowment fund at the Waccamaw Community Foundation, I negotiated a facility use agreement with Horry County Schools for our Myrtle Beach Family Learning Center Unit in 2008, I established a dedicated teen center unit in 2012 and I obtained CDBG funding from the City of Myrtle Beach for a renovation project at our new Teen Center. In 2012 our Youth of the Year was the runner up to the South Carolina Youth of the Year. A number of key business systems have been put in place including a wide area network, a multi user accounting system, a server-based membership and donor tracking system, a web-based time clock & payroll system and a Facebook page and Twitter account. I took an organization that was struggling to survive in 2006 to one that has a strong board, diversified fundraising efforts and a five month cash operating reserve in 2014.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs Of Anaheim
    Associate Executive Director
Boys & Girls Clubs Of Anaheim Sep 2003 - Feb 2006
I was responsible for day to day operations as well as the overall resource development efforts of a five-unit organization with 2,486 youth members – annual operating budget of $1,050,000 in FY 2005. I was the lead staff person for the organization’s Resource Development and Marketing Committees. I was in charge of organizing and implementing the organization’s annual special events including a Gala Auction, Golf Tournament, Kids Luncheon and Annual Meeting. Another major job responsibility was to manage the organization’s grant writing and grants administration efforts. Under my direction during the past year the organization has obtained more than $220,000 in grants, I have implemented a computerized donor tracking system, organized the development department’s record keeping system, and secured the donation of several needed capital items including several new club vans, new computers for the entire organization including the latest Microsoft software and I was also able to secure a web-based computerized membership tracking system. In March of 2005 the Club’s Black-Tie Gala Auction event exceeded budget by $38,000 netting a record $120,000. In April of 2005 the organization received a gift of $1,000,000 from Disneyland Resort to establish an endowment, fund Saturday operating hours and provide support for the first year of operation for a new club facility being developed in partnership with the City of Anaheim.
