In summer 2016, I sold The Poseidon Group to Exiger LLC, a New York-based consulting firm. Following Exiger’s acquisition, I joined the company to lead its sales team in APAC, transitioning Poseidon’s core team and clients to Exiger. I also led a project to prepare and launch proprietary Exiger software products in APAC.

The Poseidon Group specialized in in-depth due diligence, research and investigations, and worked globally for leading banks, PE firms, hedge funds and multinational corporations; mainly in Hong Kong, Singapore, London and New York. After founding the company in 2010, I built it into a multi-million dollar business with more than a hundred enterprise clients.

Poseidon Research and its precursor filled a gap in the Japanese market for low-cost desktop research and rapid-fire investigations for clients on tight deadlines. At its peak, the company, which worked mainly for banks and asset managers, handled more than 20 projects a month.

Anti-Infringement Solutions (AIS) was founded to develop technology to track the sale of counterfeit products on e-commerce platforms in Asia. Focusing mainly on Chinese e-commerce platforms, AIS was engaged and deployed by leading sportswear and luxury brands to help them identify and target large-scale traffickers in counterfeit products.

I ran Time Magazine's bureau in Tokyo, working closely with reporters based in Japan and elsewhere in Asia, and with editors in Hong Kong and New York. Driven by a team of seven correspondents and reporters, coverage ranged from politics, literature and art to finance, foreign policy and economics.

I traveled throughout Northeast Asia to report long-term investigative stories. The focus was on corporate, financial and political corruption. I also reviewed books, and wrote about environmental degradation in China, labor issues and social.

I covered Asia with a special focus on the fallout from the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997. I wrote extensively about economics, currencies and the strategies businesses adopted to overcome the crisis.

I ran the International Herald Tribune's bureau in Tokyo, covering Japan, the Korean Peninsula and the return of Hong Kong to Chinese sovereignty in 1997.

I covered equity markets, business, natural disasters, military clashes and human interest stories, working in London, Tokyo, Osaka and Beijing. Highlights included reopening the Reuters office in Osaka before moving to Beijing.

I joined as a graduate trainee and worked as an analyst covering Japanese equity markets for the asset management arm of Robert Fleming, a leaving private bank.

I won a scholarship from the Nikkei Shimbun, Japan’s largest business daily, to spend a year working at its headquarters in Tokyo. I spent the first six months working as a general reporter for the English-language Nikkei Weekly, and the second six months writing about equity markets for the Japanese-language Nikkei Shimbun.
