In the Complete Vehicle Engineering team, I have introduced a planning and budgeting model for vehicle-level "virtual validation" activities: the costs, durations, associated suppliers and deliverable scopes for each main vehicle attribute CAE streams are regrouped in a single project plan, which I have to keep synchronised with key program gateways.My role also covers the application of this planning methodology to variants of the Battista hypercar with a more limited scope of virtually-validated attributes, such as EV consumption predictions or aero-acoustic simulations.I am also supporting Vehicle Attributes teams in carrying out simulation supplier and CAE software assessments, for better cost, duration and capability planning.

My initial role at Automobili Pininfarina consisted in managing the development of internal EV powertrain longitudinal model for the PF0 "Battista" hypercar program. For this purpose I interfaced with an external modelling team and ensured that the program simulation requirements were met as timely as possible, all the while maintaining development activities on longer-term model features.I then added more applicative responsibilities to this role, also covering the execution of specific simulation cases, such as WLTP/EPA/NEDC range predictions, and investigating model discrepancies to real vehicle data.My role also allowed me to get first-hand experience during in-field vehicle test activities, such as during the actual homologation sessions for range in IDIADA, or the high-stakes launch system calibration campaign in the Nardo proving grounds. I was also involved in the model-supported calibration of the remaining range estimation algorithm, providing numerical tools to virtually validate estimation intervals and simulate the algorithm behaviour on both real-world data and WLTP cycle data, ultimately leading to the release to customer vehicles of a new algorithm behaviour.

After spending five months preparing for the role in the UK, I was sent on an international assignment in Munich for an EDU co-development with BMW.My initial responsibilities revolved around calibration and operation of e-machine thermal models in Motor-CAD in order to correlate test results and validate power and torque requirements.During my time in Germany from January 2019 to June 2021, I was also tasked with harmonising the thermal requirements with BMW, effectively supervising the information exchange and the integration activities with the respective systems team. I was also responsible for drafting the e-machine component test plans and for re-calibrating the 1D thermal models with the tests output data.As a local representative of the company, I was accountable for preparing dashboards and development review presentations for the senior levels, to keep the pulse on the engineering progress.

Having enrolled in the JLR graduate scheme with a strong focus on the company's electrification efforts, I eventually joined the E-Machines Engineering team in the Powertrain Electrification department. This allowed me to develop my skills in CAE, electric machine design and thermal analysis. My responsibilities included motor test data analysis, running thermal models for existing BEV and PHEV programs, compiling efficiency maps and performance predictions. As part of the graduate scheme, I also had the opportunity to rotate through multiple departments that I carefully selected to get a well-rounded understanding of the business: - Electrification Engineering CAE (3months)- Powertrain NVH (3 months)- Electrification Strategy (3 months)- Plant Vehicle Launch (2 months)- Manufacturing (2 weeks on the vehicle assembly line)
