In this role, I have had a chance to be a part of a very different experience. Both in the sense of the tasks and the surrounding. Fraunhofer IIS is a renowned institute operating in multiple areas of engineering and mostly on large-scale RnD projects.My task was the active development of the demonstrator for the project in the area of distributed machine learning. Emphasis was on developing active communication between several hardware units and deployment of a machine learning model on that system. The development platform was Linux and everything was coded in Python. The emphasis was on creating a modular platform that can be expanded on while respecting all of the good coding practices. The project lacked cooperation within the large system of engineers, which was a downside. Yet, it provided space for growing certain independence.

Very intense and demanding experience from which I have learned a lot. It encapsulated all the aspects of an embedded device development. From day one of this experience I have worked on a commercial project. The project was a small-scale project and I was the lead developer, highly supervised by a more experienced engineer who did not take part in the actual development but in code review and guidance.As part of this position I have: - Participated (with an experienced engineer) in iteratively designing the PCB - Developed low and high-level embedded software. Programming the microcontroller with all the sensors and actuators needed. Developing the application that ran in real-time and with necessary reliability. - Participated weekly in interactions with clients, discussing their requests for possible improvements and overall project progress.
