Victoria Cain is currently an associate professor in Northeastern University's Department of History. She is a historian of the twentieth-century United States, and she takes special interest in the history of public knowledge, as well as the tools and institutions devoted to the promotion of knowledge. Her first book, "Life on Display: Revolutionizing U.S. Museums of Science and Nature" co-authored with Karen Rader, won multiple prizes and was published by the University of Chicago Press in 2014. Her second award-winning book, "Schools and Screens: A Watchful History," explores the history of debates over the use of screen media in American schools, and was published by the MIT Press in 2021. She has authored review essays and articles to American Quarterly, Isis, museum + society, the Journal of Visual Culture, Science in Context, Paedagogica Historica, and other publications, and has authored book chapters on the history of museums and the history of educational film. She is currently researching the history of adolescent privacy rights.
