In size, is the largest territorial Association of the Confindustria.I have a great passion for innovation and therefore by definition for start-ups founded by young innovators. President Gianfelice Rocca has decided to rely on me with the responsability of the innovative projects of Assolombarda“start-up town”, “crowdfunding” e “digitalizzazione” that are part of the 50 projects for “Far Volare Milano” (http://www.farvolaremilano.it/it/progetti/). In particular with the project “start-up town” I want to bring the world of startups to that of Italian firms, helping to obtain exit strategies different from the usual multinational companies and Italian companies to take this innovation comes from small innovative reality just as they do in Silicon Valley. Today we have over 200 startups associated to Assolombarda, that are integrating themselves in the Italian industrial system.

Confindustria is the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy, with a base of over 150,000 companies of all sizes. The activity of the Association is to ensure the centrality of the enterprise, as an engine for economic, social and civil development of the country by representing businesses and their values to the institutions at all levels.As a member of the Advisory Board Foreign Investors I am part of the strategic process, laboratory of ideas, a place where skills, through a dialectic comparison between entrepreneurs and experts can come great contributions to the country's economic outlook for the priority themes of the italian agenda. In particular with regard to foreign investors, we must be able to listen and focus on who can help us to define priorities and proposals for the country's competitiveness and attraction of investments. At the same time we must, and we can be as Confindustria a benchmark to support those who want to come to invest in Italy.

Confindustria Digitale was founded with the aim of promoting the development of the digital economy to the benefit of competition and innovation in the country.As a member of the Board of Directors, with responsibility of President of the Steering Committee “Competenze Digitali”, we tested with my team that the Italian population with digital basic skill is only 40%; against a European average of 53%. More than half of Italian citizens therefore did not have the skills to do simple tasks on the web as digital banking, e-commerce shopping, have online access to public administration. Then I considered a priority action for the dissemination of culture and digital skills in our country, in consultation with the Government, to initiate a process of "Digital Renaissance" including all citizens and not letting anybody back. For example, thanks to the cooperation protocol signed by Confindustria digital with Rai, we actively supported the project "Rai for digital literacy: Maestro Manzi 2.0", which offers educational and informational initiatives on digital innovation projects that have undertaken ICT firms operating on the Italian territory.

The U.S. economy is the first to innovate in the world, so much so that technological innovation today comes from the United States and largely from Silicon Valley.I accepted this prestigious role in the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy because I believe that if you get even more the two sides of the Atlantic we can create a great opportunity for U.S. companies and for European ones, especially for companies that need to grow up, to access new markets and to a model of continuous innovation. As American Chamber of Commerce in Italy I represent both the interests of American companies in Italy, both the interests of Italian companies that need support for investing in the United States.As President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy I chaired the celebration of 100 years of presence in Italy of the American Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1915. American Chamber of Commerce in Italy was also tasked by the U.S. Government to facilitate the participation of the United States to Expo 2015 through fundraising in enterprises sponsor as the American Pavilion is historically the only Expos Pavilion financed entirely by private individuals. The Pavilion "American food 2.0" hosted the event's 6 million visitors in six months by offering 70 "Terrace Talk" and hosting leaders in the fields of agriculture, science, economy and culture. The annual Christmas Gala Dinner, in 2015, scored a record of all time, with over 700 participants, guests from the current and future Member companies.

Assinform is the National Association of Information Technology companies operating in Italy. It is the reference for the Italian companies of all sizes and specialization: software, systems and equipment manufacturers, suppliers of application solutions and networking, added-value service and content providers.I've inspired the "Assinform Manifesto". Under this umbrella manifesto we’re building a digital ecosystem, through a series of initiatives to transfer the best that technology now offers for public administration, businesses and individuals. To do so we decided to involve the major actors of digital innovation. With the initiative “#territori digitali” the association members visited several Italian cities with the aim of telling the potential of new technologies to SMEs.

HP has always been a leader in technological quality products offered on the market. Has a wealth of experience in the design and implementation for complex services customers, working in a coordinated manner to build application solutions with external partners to bring the best possible proposition to the market.I agreed to drive Hewlett-Packard in Italy two months after the arrival of Meg Whitman as head of the corporation; taking up the challenge to transform and relaunch the business. In 2011 the HP was a company that lived in a financial crisis and identity. My first task was to implement my management skills in reforming mindset of the management team, with winning approach refocused on customer needs.Hewlett-Packard Italy in these years regain the status of a company that is no longer in crisis, financially positive and that is bringing innovative solutions to the market that will transform their IT infrastructures in hybrid infrastructure and open standard. The objective that we achieved was to make HP Italy the principal agent of transformation of the country into the technology.

I left as CEO after Cisco Systems Italy was significantly grown in terms of commercial leadership and knowledge development. This allowed me to accept a new international assignment once completed the creation of Cisco Photonics Research Center, at Monza; the launch in our country of the Cisco Networking Academy program; the opening of the Cisco Business Collaboration Center, dedicated to the experimentation of technologies for business collaboration.I faced the new professional challenge of accompanying institutions and public authorities across Europe to a future in which the intelligent use of the network could revolutionize positively and productively the Government, management and the relationship with citizens.In this new role as Corporate Vice President Cisco Systems for European Public Sector I had responsibility for the management of strategic accounts of the sectors Government, Healthcare, Education and Defence.

Cisco is the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate. Was founded in 1984 by Len Bosack and Sandy Lerner, a husband and wife who worked for Stanford University.I decided to join Cisco as a result of an exciting encounter with one of its leaders, who introduced me to the project company; showing me what would have been the evolution of the network and how Cisco intended to interpret it. The validity of the project affected me so much that I decide to join the Cisco team. After some discussions with the European HR I went into business, in Italy it was composed of a team of 6 people. I carried with me a wealth of knowledge and skills acquired over the years during the previous work experiences: the culture technique of Olivetti, the HP management skills, the highly addictive experience at Wyse Sun Microsystems. The adventure in Cisco as CEO is summarized in 3 key moments: 1) put into practice what I had learned from my experience in Sun spreading the culture of teamwork and of engaging employees; 2) contribute to the creation of innovative processes and practices, by devising effective methods to be proposed to the corporation;3) make available to the italian business system the creation of the networking Academy, CSR and a program that helped start-ups to enter the world of business.Thanks to these objectives and results achieved, the Italian team of Cisco grew during my administration up to 700 employees. In these years we managed to attract in Italy more than four billion dollars in investments, acquisitions (Pirelli Lab) and development laboratories (including the opening of the research and Development Center on Photonics) and to realize the most important industrial investment by Cisco in Italy with Italtel.

During those years, Sun Microsystems was “the rising star” in the field of open source technology and open standards in the Unix world. It was also the first company to have made possible the implementation of PC NFS, which represented the standard "primordial" network to connect all printers and PCs within a corporate LAN. But above all, Sun Microsystems was the company who invented in those years Java.I was initially entrusted the responsibility to start the Italian branch of the software division of Sun Microsystems; as Country Manager Italy of SunSoft. After a few months I was appointed Managing Director EMEA South of Sun Microsystems. The challenge that I gathered was to develop new business, especially the spread of Java, and then deal with the merger of four different companies within SunSoft building a successful team.The creation of the new international team of SunSoft represented key leadership experience for me in my career. I hired, from within Sun Microsystems, people from different Nations, interracial, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, building a team made up for the 50% women. The diversity -in the broadest sense of the word- was the key to the success of this experience. The tangible result was that southern Europe, which was historically the rear of SunSoft, became in subsequent years the leading region for Europe.

Wyse Technology was the leader in the world of video terminals. In those years it was about to launch a line of multiprocessor servers and wanted to sell with strong results on the Italian market.I accepted the challenge of launching Wyse Technology in Italy opening the new business of multiprocessor systems and personal computers. In this role I got the satisfaction of becoming within three years the European country most important in Europe for Wyse Technology for sales of personal computers and servers. In this role, I realized that I liked to surround myself with talents and create winning teams. I spent those years cultivating this passion that characterized all my subsequent career.

In those years Hewlett Packard was already a great global reality, leaders in medical systems, led components in optical microwave measurement equipment and gas chromatographs. It was the first to bring to market the ink-jet printers and laser printers and processors named "Risc".In Hewlett Packard I joined the Information Technology area as responsible for the support and development of the internal IT network. I put into practice the training received in Olivetti to bring in all branch offices the same performance that was characterizing central offices in Milan and Rome. I dressed the role of Software Engineer for consulting projects that HP was offering to its customers, in particular inthe area of telecommunications networks open standard X25. Among the most important projects that I remember: that with Hertz Italy, and with Robert Bosch. Over the past two years I became Sales Account Manager and one of the most important projects was automating stock with CED Borsa that represented the historic shift away from "shout out" to computer terminals.

Olivetti S.p.A. is today a subsidiary of Telecom Italy that works in the field of computer science. In the past, Olivetti was one of the world's leading companies in the field of typewriters, calculation and information technology. It was the first to produce personal computers (PCs) and Office printers in Italy and worldwide. The primacy of the first PC in fact can be assigned to Olivetti 101 Program, which was produced thanks to in 1964 and achieved success in the U.S. market.In 1979 Olivetti was on the threshold of a great transformation that would take place in the following years: the shift from electromechanical machines to electronic machines. Were the years when Olivetti also invented the first personal computer, the Olivetti M20. Ivrea was at the time a cosmopolitan city with people coming to do training from around the world.I started my career at Olivetti dealing system support and later as a System Engineer in the field of hardware and software, where I was involved in the project of commercial deployment of the first ATM in Italy. Olivetti experience taught me the value of the study, the permanent updating, training on the job, months of training in the lab of Ivrea. In Olivetti I lived a large company social life (colonies, holiday accommodation for employees, health insurance), the reality of a company open and oriented to the development of people.
