Working primarily with vacuum chambers (as well as other High Vacuum (HV) and Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) parts) for medical, educational and scientific research applications.Role Outline:- Receive customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and assess whether they fall within MDC's capabilities/scope- Analyse and produce technical drawings and 3D CAD models to determine the material and manufacturing requirements of each potential project- Provide detailed technical Statements of Work (SOW) for customers upon their request- Determine material and process costs for each RFQ and set preliminary schedule for the build and supply of requested parts/assemblies- Collate all project costs into a matrix, outlining any design concerns or proposed deviations for the customer- Work internationally to co-ordinate a team of estimators in the US, Europe and Asia- Personally quote projects for organisations in the UK, US, various countries in mainland Europe as well as Asia- Oversee technical cost analysis in MDC's manufacturing transition from California, USA to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam- Qualify which products are to be manufactured in the new Vietnam plant based on analysis of their build viability- Provide technical support for the sales team in client meetingsKey accomplishments:- Reduced average numbers of open RFQs from above 30 when I joined to an average of below 15- Successfully ensured that parts and projects are quoted promptly and in a detailed manner, in turn maintaining a consistent stream of orders for the business- Won several high value orders, with many above $500,000 and one even exceeding $1,000,000
