I initially was hired at Blessing in 1986 as a medical transcriptionist, part-time. Needing a full-time position, I transferred to the cancer registry in Jan. of 1987 performing all cancer registry duties. I held this position for over two years and experienced working closely with the cancer committee in re-upping Commission on Cancer re-accredidation. I then transferred back to medical transcription working in the HIM Department for a total of 15 years, 10 years in a home-based program. Then in 2004, I transferred to the Radiation Oncology Department and worked as a medical transcriptionist/secretary for two years. In Jan. of 2007, I transferred back to the cancer registry, located at the new Blessing Hospital Cancer Center and became a certified tumor registrar that same year, Sept. of 2007. Currently, I have been in the cancer registry 7 years and I have been employed at Blessing for a total of 28 years this year, 2014.
