At Watermelon, I have worked alongside numerous families to develop play-based, individualized treatment plans to address each child’s goals. I love being able to develop long term relationships with the children and help them to flourish and build their confidence!

I’m so thankful for the continuous opportunities I have had to work with such incredible kids at SPARK. I’m always learning something new from them and love helping them to grow and work towards each of their goals!

Giant Steps is a therapy centre that builds the skills and abilities of children with autism through specialized, evidence-based therapies and life skills programming. During my last placement in the OT program, I had the amazing opportunity to gain experience at both Mindful OT and Boomerang Health private pediatric clinics. I worked with babies, school-age kids, teens, and adults with a variety of sensory and developmental challenges. At Mindful OT, I was given the opportunity to observe an MVA assessment and facilitate assessments conducted at group homes whereas, at Boomerang Health, I had the opportunity to facilitate group summer camp programs developed to teach school-aged kids about the zones of regulation and different calming strategies they can use. I had an incredible time during my fieldwork placement at Ellen Yack and Associates. From the professional development opportunities always being offered to the supportive and welcoming staff, I learned so much about utilizing my therapeutic use of self with each of my clients and ensuring that a relationship- and strength-based approach is taken.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with the interprofessional team in the Stroke/Neuro unit at St. John's. I loved the holistic approach that was taken when collaboratively developing individualized treatment plans with each of the clients.

I had the privilege of working alongside a multidisciplinary team and therapy animals to offer guests with varied abilities a client-centered, strength-based approach in their summer camp programming.
