I just finished second grade for the second time. Yes, I'm an adult. No, it wasn't a nightmare. The pandemic did it. I had to sit with my son through video learning when we all went remote. I learned exactly two things. First, grade school is boring. Admittedly, I already knew that, but I'd forgotten the magnitude of the boredom vector. Second, grade school boredom shaped who I am today. My avoidance of ever again suffering that boredom led me to interests like: math, computer science, archaeology, art, and (when I've been drinking a bit) physics. So, where did these not-boring interests lead me? It turns out they are eminently practical. So, I've spent my life building interesting software with fascinating people. We've built award-winning video games, physics simulations for use in HR departments, convolutional neural networks to classify fossils, Fourier decomposition-based models to sort inventory, movie props, data pipelines for image processing, and more. These days, I work for myself building apps and plugins with occasional consulting work. It's fun! Feel free to reach out if you also fight boredom by building tech or are interested in talking about any of my hobbies/projects.Current Favorite Tech: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#, SQL, Kubernetes, Kafka, Machine Learning, Databases (I've worked with most of them), SQL, NodeJS, Unit Testing, Angular, Redis, AWS, GCP.P.S. Test-Driven Development saves lives!P.P.S. If you fight during development, you can't properly celebrate your glorious launch victory together.
