Continuation of management duties and engineering related roles. I was promoted to Principal Geo-environmental Engineer following my success as team leader and was awarded Chartered Scientist (CSci) status by the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES).
Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer And Team Leader (Cambridge Geosciences)
I manage a team of six staff overseeing and supporting their career development alongside my typical engineering roles such as site investigation works and interpretative report writing. My main responsibilities include, devising annual team budgets, recruitment, annual appraisals, H&S audits, technical report reviewing of quotations, factual reports and Phase 1 Desk Studies, ensuring the team are happy in their roles, meet monthly budgets and encourage growth for the wider business.
Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer
I was awarded a senior position based on my success with helping start and run the office in Cambridge. In addition, I was nominated/shortlisted and a finalist for the Brownfield Briefing Awards 2019: Best Young Brownfield Professional. Since its opening, the office has grown from two members to five and as a result, overtime, I have quickly developed management and leadership skills which assisted with my current team leader to help run the team. Daily role includes; tendering for projects, project management, developing a client base for future work for the team, sorting out invoices/financing for the Cambridgeshire office, mentoring and training junior members, alongside typical engineering roles such as site investigation works and interpretative report writing.During the lockdown in March 2020, I continued working whilst other staff in the department were furloughed. During this time, I was responsible for covering all site works, reporting and managing all projects along with aid from the current team leader which was a similar scenario to when the Cambridge office first started.I am currently undergoing a ‘handover period’ between the current team leader and myself. This will involve the introduction of more responsibility and obtaining the relevant training ready to be the new team leader for the Cambridge office (in April 2021). This will be alongside typical engineering roles previously mentioned.
