Manage emergency operations by monitoring responsibility and accountability of all suppression branch employ-ees, while ensuring safety. Oversee operations for the department, including fire suppression, rescue, advancedlife support EMS, dangerous goods response, and special operations including technical and water rescueAssists the Fire Chief in:· The strategic planning and goal setting for departmental long-range operational needs with respect to equip- ment, apparatus, and personnel; supervise the implementation of such plans.· The establishment of policies and procedures for the department in order to implement directives from the City Manager and City Council.· The formulation, issuance, and enforcement of departmental rules, regulations, and procedures in accordance with applicable City polices for all department members; handles grievances, maintains departmental discipline and the general conduct of assigned personnel; assists in labor/management meetings with union representa- tives regarding department matters; assists with applicable contract negotiations.· Development of an ongoing strategic plan for SCES operations· Managing a variety of projects, including apparatus acquisition, special service delivery models, incorporation of two external contracts with Alberta Health Services and SHELL Corporate Air.· Researched and review appropriate legislation, regulations, and accepted standards of practice ensuring de- partment compliance through the administration of quality management processes· Represent Strathcona County and maintain effective working relationships with local and regional stakeholders in both the public and private sectors, includes media relations,· Direct and coordinate Emergency Services activities at major disaster and emergency incidents. Most notably, Initial Area Command for 2009 North Strathcona Wildfire.

Responsible for providing advanced emergency services to the residents and visitors of Strathcona County.Assess fire and medical related situations and communicate with crew and supervisor on action plans. Maintainequipment for operational readiness. Participate in training exercises and assist instructing for particular activities.· Assisted in development of recruit competency management in 2006.· Assisted in development and implementation of seven-week recruit orientation in 2007. Orientation comprised of improved systems for recruit evolution that included competency management, equipment and area familiarization, and inaugural convocation.

Supports the Associate Commissioner, Corporate Services and Interim CIO to develop and establish the IT governance model required to implement the "One County IT Strategy". Leading the work of a consultant, this position with establish an IT Governance Committee; review and advise the Governance Committee on business cases developed to advance the IT strategy; be a leader in educating, developing, and enhancing knowledge and competency as it relates to the IT strategy.

Front line supervisor with full responsibility for day-to-day operations, training, human resources, planning, andemergency response for a newly established oil sands company. · Organized daily operations, training schedule, and response actions for shift consisting of 4 professional and 22 part time responders to meet national and provincial legislation. Worked with Emergency Response Director and 3 additional Emergency Coordinators in strategic planning for department.· Generated emergency response (fire) procedures and plans for individual high-risk areas on site including flammable solvent tanks/facilities, mining operations, and propane storage facilities.
