I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work for Haliburton Forest as a forestry research intern. My primary goal was to study the long-term effects of silviculture treatments on beech regeneration in stands affected by beech bark disease. However, thanks to HFWR's amazing forestry team, lead by chief forester Thomas McCay, I was able to gain valuable field and management skills, towards becoming a registered professional forester. I will be completing my MFC by the end of December and am excited to begin my career in the dynamic field of forestry.
