Veronica is an Associate Judge in the Third Judicial Circuit in Edwardsville, Illinois. The Third Circuit is comprised of Madison and Bond Counties. Veronica was appointed in August. Her investiture ceremony took place on August 30, 2019. Veronica was originally assigned to the Family Division. She served 2.5 years over the Traffic and Misdemeanor Docket which includes DUIs, Domestic Violence, Ordinance Violation, Conservation, and Expungement cases. With the recent rotation of judicial assignments, she will handle family and traffic cases. Veronica serves as faculty teaching Illinois judges at the bi-annual education conference and new judges at their new judge orientation. Veronica is a Harvard Judicial Executive Leadership Program Alumnus. Veronica is an attorney experienced in civil litigation having represented health care institutions, which included cases involving negligence, wrongful death, nursing home litigation, medical malpractice, regulatory, and personal injury matters. Prior to practicing law, she worked for many years in the insurance industry handling liability claims and coverage issues. Previously, Veronica was appointed to the Board of Nursing of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. She is an experienced public speaker presenting to many organizations, professional and community groups. Veronica served on the professional panel for Teen Speak presented by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. She has presented seminars on nursing home litigation in Missouri and Illinois which were attended by nursing home owners, executives, administrators, nursing professionals, and insurance claim supervisors, in addition to presenting at national conventions of bar associations. During the National Bar Association's International Seminar in the Middle East, she presented on Jordanian Family Law and arranged for meetings with members of the Jordanian Supreme Court and the American Ambassador.
