Assistant Director is responsible for closely collaborating with the Director to provide hiring, training, supervision and coaching up to 15 Success Coaches.

Teaching adult learners in a non-traditional format, assisting them reaching their full potential and gain knowledge that will excel their professional careers and enrich their personal life. Currently teaching: FINC 330: Business Finance FINC 321 Fundamentals of Building Wealth ECON 103: Economics in the Information Age ECON 203 Principles of Microeconomics

• Serve as lead mentor for new advisors as they progress through their initial 10-week training program; reinforce formal training through discussions, roleplaying, Q&A, exercises and quizzes.• Serve as a lead facilitator for select on boarding training sessions and otherselect courses.• Deliver training in classroom, group, and one-on-one settings.• Identify training needs of new advisors and assist with the design, development,delivery, and assessment of programs on customer service, sales, UMUCacademic content, technology, professional development, and workplaceeffectiveness skills.• Serve as the lead subject matter expert on all UMUC policies, procedures, andcontent; assist with review and continual update of training materials toacknowledge changes in policies and procedures.• Align teaching methods and training content to the strategic vision of StrategicEnrollment Management and UMUC.• Model high-performance advising for newly-hired advisors by actively advisingstudents directly via telephone and e-mail; respond to incoming email andtelephone calls; execute proactive advising outreach.

• Deliver full-service and world-class advising to students, including academic and financial guidance• Implement strategic outreach activities based in line with the university’s strategic growth initiatives• Provide support to Director and Assistant Director in managing the on-site classrooms, testing center, lab, and other facilities• Manage on-campus events, as well as participate in UMUC-sponsored events in the community• Utilize excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to ensure recruitment and retention* Able to maintain complex financial and statistical records and accurately compile related reports with VA benefits, Financial Aid, and third party payments. Embraced the role when Acting Assistant Director was absent.

• Coached and supervised Counselors to become successful at their position.• Collected statistical data about members and maintained the information in Excel spreadsheets.• Maintained member records in an organized manner in order to monitor each member’s individual progress.• Responded to routine phone requests, redirected calls to appropriate staff, and prepared correspondences. • Scheduled appointments and followed up with them via phone for ensured success and accountability.

• Collaborated with a highly motivated team to help individuals with severe mental illness in a weight loss lifestyle intervention. • Trained and certified in dietary needs, sub max cycle ergometer test, blood pressure and questionnaires.
