Veronica I. Castillo is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). She has been engaged in several research works including the microsimulations on household energy demand estimation, valuation of ecosystem services, integration of climate change and disaster risk reduction in government project evaluation process, analysis of common pool resource management, economy-wide modeling, and macroeconomic accounts data analysis. She also has experience in various economic analysis tools including Spatial Econometrics using R Software and QGIS, General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) for Economy-Wide Modelling and Linear Programming Model, econometric modeling using Stata, payment for ecosystem services and, Contingent Valuation Method.Prior to joining the World Bank Team as a consultant, she became a consultant at the Asian Development Bank, an assisting professional for a project under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, a consultant under the Department of Science and Technology PCAARRD- funded project and was a research assistant at the National Economic and Development Authority. Veronica Castillo obtained her MS Economics major in Environmental Economics and BS Economics major in Natural Resource Economics while working as a Teaching Associate at the UPLB Department of Economics. She is now handling courses on general economics, microeconomics and welfare, environmental economics, and econometrics.
