I obtained my degree in Biology at the University of Alicante (2003) and my degree in Biochemistry at Miguel Hernandez University (UMH) in Elche, (2005). Receiving my PhD in 2010, obtaining the qualification of outstanding Cum Laude at UMH under the supervision of Dr. Amparo Estepa. During my PhD studies, I have been working with fish immunology and DNA vaccines against viral pathologies in aquaculture, specifically evaluating the innate and adaptive immune response to immunization with DNA vaccines based on the G glycoprotein of viral haemorrhagic septicemia virus.In 2012, I started working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Organism Biology and Comparative Physiology at Uppsala University, in Sweden with Dr. Soderhall for two years, focus on research in innate immunity and hematopoiesis in crustaceans. From 2015 to the present I am currently a researcher at the Institute of Research, Development, and Innovation in Healthcare Biotechnology in Elche (IDiBE - UMH), working in the laboratory of Dr. María del Mar Ortega-Villaizán. In summary, throughout my research career I have participated in 11 research projects, with national and international projection, published 27 scientific articles in international journals of recognized standing and indexed in SCOPUS, 1 article under review (being corresponding author), 2 book chapters, 1book as an editor, 44 conference communications and a patent applied for The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM).Finally, I would like to highlight the VIII JACUMAR award on aquaculture research in 2009 and the Santander-UMH prize for young researchers 2022. Recently, our project ACUICULTURA SEGURA, based on the development of a biomarker for the detection of disease in aquaculture, was awarded in 12ª Maratón de Creación de Start-ups UMH 2022 with an economic prize and two special awards mentoring award from Laboratories Quinton and from Port Authority of Alicante to boost our spin-off in aquaculture sector in (2023).Furthermore, I am guest editor of Frontiers in Immunology Journal, where I have handled a Research Topics “Antiviral Immune Response in Fish and Shellfish”. Moreover, I was co-supervisor for five graduate students and three Master´s student from 2018 to 2022. Since 2022, I am co-director of a PhD student. I have imparted lectures at the degree of Biochemistry and Biotechnology and at the University Master of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, at the UMH, and obtained the accreditation for assistant professor (2018).
