As a faculty member and specialist, I was responsible for providing statewide leadership to the 4-H volunteer and leadership development programs by working with Extension colleagues, faculty, clientele groups, and others to identify educational program priorities. I provided leadership, implementation, and oversight to the volunteer development process for Louisiana 4-H Program including the maintenance, implementation, and evaluation of the Volunteer Policy, Overnight Chaperone Program, Camp Counselor Program, and Master Volunteer Program. I supported professional development efforts and design online and in-person training to enhance volunteer development. My focus was to provide content for an enhanced web presence for all 4-H volunteer opportunities and resources which support the role of 4-H volunteer or volunteer manager.

Provide overall leadership for non-formal youth development education and work with and through volunteers to plan and organize a well-balanced 4-H youth program. Increase civic engagement of less active youth audiences and expand program diversity and delivery. Program delivery includes 4-H school clubs, project and community clubs, camps, after school programs, school enrichment, leadership programs, short-term special interest groups and community service learning. Responsible for working with 4-H program advisory leadership committees to identify local youth needs, to develop programs that respond to those needs, and to evaluate the impacts of the programs. Identify, recruit, train, and support volunteers that are essential for our effective 4-H program.Provide LSU AgCenter leadership to the 4-H Foundation to monitor and approve funds spent for parish 4-H youth development activities and others approved by the parish foundation board.Evaluate program impacts and report to local governing bodies, state legislators, stakeholders, and Extension Administrators.

I began volunteering at Audubon Zoo in August of 2004, then progressed to zookeeper before finding my "eco niche" in the Education Department. During my time with Audubon Zoo, I founded the award-winning Envirothon Team, the ECCO After School Leadership Program for students entering 8th-11th grade, as well as managed the Scout Overnight Program.

Taught New Orleans kids how teamwork and outdoor skills including canoeing, hiking, camping.
