I conduct research in small scale synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the Harmata Lab. This involves setting up chemical reactions, running them safely, and purifying of the products. I have experience with TLC, column chromatography, recrystallizations, and vacuum distillations. I have been trained to use the NMR and IR machines. Over the last three years, I have presented my research many times in poster format to the public, as well as experts in my field.

At MoDOT, I was an analytical chemist intern working with concrete aggregate samples! My duties included analyzing the elemental composition of concrete samples using a variety of instrumental and wet chemistry methods. I gained a lot of experience using ICP-OES.

I have conducted analytical testing on Missouri public drinking water samples. This testing was done using HPLC and Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS and ICP-OES). I have experience with tuning, running, cleaning, and fixing these instruments. I would report my data in both excel and LIMS.
