The Sarasota-Manatee Originals exist to promote dining in independently owned restaurants and collaborating to serve the interests of the independent restaurateur. The Originals consist of over 60 locally owned restaurants from Anna Maria Island to South Venice, who share a passion for dining excellence and commitment to our community. The group was conceived to unite independently owned restaurants and identify our region as a culinary destination. Each “Original” restaurant is known for its inventive use of the best ingredients to prepare dishes that embody the flavor, color and culture of Florida’s west coast. By bringing together restaurants through membership, we showcase the best of our collective culinary offerings to a broader audience.The Originals support the local community by engaging in and hosting public events. Forks & Corks is the organization’s major annual fundraiser. This 12th annual, multi-day epicurean event will be held in the spectacular courtyard of The Ringling Museum of Art, the elegant ballroom of Michael’s On East and other exciting venues across the region from January 25, 2019 - January 27, 2019. The Forks & Corks world-class weekend of food, wine and beer offers a feast for your senses through various vintner events; interactive food and wine seminars; and The Grand Tasting, which features a wide variety of wines, beers, and food sampling from top local restaurants, live entertainment and more.
