In 2021, San Antonio had 81,000 live births. However, despite a growing population, San Antonio has some of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the nation at 6.2 per 1,000 live births. These numbers become even more bleak when they show that Black and Latinx mothers and infants statistically experience higher rates of infant mortality, preterm birth, low birth weight, pregnancy depression, postpartum depression, as well as severe maternal mortality and morbidity than other racial groups, according to Texas Health and Human Services. This, as well as, healthcare disparities and inequities within our San Antonio community are the reasons that my Co-Founder Ashley Green and I began Latched Support.

New Leaders Council is the leading training program for progressives. NLC equips our leaders with the skills to run for office, manage campaigns, create start ups and networks of thought leaders. NLC leaders take their activism back into their communities and workplaces to impact progressive change. NLC has 48 chapters across the country in red and blue states with nearly 5,000 alumni.NLC’s flagship program is the Institute, a rigorous 5-month training program that focuses on entrepreneurship, advocacy, organizing, and fundraising. NLC seeks out the top tier of emerging progressive leaders from around the country for the Institute, building a community of vetted, trained progressive leaders with the skills and support system to help to change the way politics is done and foster a more equitable, just America.

LEAARC reviews and endorses lactation and breastfeeding education in a variety of settings. Lactation and breastfeeding courses and clinical internships receive LEAARC endorsement after voluntary review of their instruction and business standards. LEAARC also serves as a review committee for the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). As a CAAHEP review committee, LEAARC recommends academic lactation programs for accreditation by CAAHEP after a rigorous self-evaluation process assessing every aspect of the program’s administration.

Courses taught for RN program:Concepts of Professional Nursing Practice I - This course focuses on concepts of nursing practice related to patient-centered care across the lifespan including: development, functional ability, family dynamics, culture, motivation and adherence.

Provided support, education, and referrals to military families with children from zero to three years of age. Maintained caseload of 20 clients. Conducted individual, child, and family counseling in the office and client homes. Created service plans and coordinated services with appropriate resources as needed. Monitored client progress and provided support through internet, phone, and office visits. Researched topics pertaining to clients' situation and needs. Provided information to clients on community resources. Empowered clients to meet their own goals.Conducted intakes and assessment on individuals and families. Interviewed parents to uncover hidden risk factors and determine the appropriate methods to address concerns. Determined eligibility for services and provided necessary referrals. Identified client strengths, interests, skills and needs to create appropriate training programs through the Nurturing Parent Program. Identified/arranged long-term support for clients who no longer qualified for the program or relocated.

Case Management Services Program ManagerThe objective of the San Antonio Metro Health Department 1115 Waiver Case Management Services program is to provide case management services for pregnant women identified as at risk to ensure appropriate testing and treatment for syphilis during pregnancy. I created a resource services called Healthy Beats. Healthy Beats services included enrollment counseling and health education, prenatal and pediatric provider education, and linkage to care.
