“Hello, my name is Veronica and I’m a record collector”I am a researcher, lecturer, and writer. My research is primarily concerned with record collecting and collecting cultures, materiality and aesthetics. One of my main aims is to highlight how diverse and active popular music fandom and consumption is. I have a clear focus on the listener and reader-response theories, questioning meta-narratives and exploring hidden histories. In 2016 I published the book ‘I, Me, Mine?’: An Initial Consideration of (Popular Music Record) Collecting Aesthetics, Identities & Practices, and am currently working on a new monograph on record collecting in the 21st century.I have worked across a range of subjects and disciplines in the humanities, including film studies, cultural theory, and aesthetics with a particular interest in mediation, cultural history, and artefacts and nostalgia. I believe research should be accessible beyond academia and strive to communicate my work in a relatable way.I am the current co-chair and a founding member of SMPR, and sit on the editorial board for The British Pop Archive book series (Manchester University Press).
