I am one of those people that find joy in interpreting numbers and in solving problems. I’d always knew this and for a while after finishing my studies in Hospitality Management, I wondered if I made the right choice or if I should have gone for a degree in mathematics or statistics. In fact, the subjects that I enjoyed the most, were the analytical ones such as financial maths, business planning, finance, and even outside University, I found myself dedicating a lot of my free time to study topics that fascinated me such as data analysis and programming. Then, I discovered that there is a meeting point between my passion for hospitality and my love for analytics and it is called revenue management. For me, there is no better job. I currently work as a Revenue Management Analyst for one of the leader companies in the car rental industry. What I love the most about my job is that it allows me to combine my business education to the data analysis leaving space for creativity and innovation. Given a certain scenario and with the aim of maximising the revenue of the company, I develop the strategies and actions that will produce the best possible outcome. My current role is made 90% of problem solving and this is exactly what makes it so interesting to me. For me, having the possibility to observe the direct result of my actions and to contribute in such a big way to the success of a company is pure motivation. I enjoy working in a team where there is an open dialogue, and everyone can bring new ideas to the table.
