Veronica Sutton is a New Jersey real estate development professional with more than 25 years’ experience in planning, financing and managing the development and construction of affordable housing, charter schools, daycare centers, professional and retail space. Formerly Vice President of the Urban League of Hudson County’s Affordable Housing and Community Development Corporation, a subsidiary corporation which she established and directed for 5 years, Ms. Sutton distinguished herself as a housing policy leader, a champion for local contractors and the voice for comprehensive community development. While directing the Urban League subsidiary, Ms. Sutton was recognized by Jersey City's City Council as a "Woman of Action" and by the National Urban League as a champion for excellence in community development. Ms. Sutton also garnered the NJ Futures Smart Growth Award for the Urban League in the area of planning and development. - the first non-profit community organization in the state to ever receive such an award.Under Ms. Sutton's leadership as President of the Jersey City Affordable Housing Coalition, Jersey City lead the state in passing an abandoned property and vacant property bill which has since been utilized as an effective tool for urban redevelopment.Ms. Sutton has generated more than $23 Million for community development projects in New Jersey. and currently her company, VDS Consulting, has a project pipeline that will generate an additional $16 Million. VDS Consulting provides non-profits and small businesses with services in the areas of real estate development, project finance; business planning and organizational development. in addition to grant writing and client marketing services for an eclectic mix of non-profits. Among the company's current slate of development projects is Communipaw Crossing, a new construction mixed-use 46 unit condominium project scheduled for completion in 2018.
