Education: I design and execute nature and science programming for children and adults. I connect lesson plans to current science standards and cultivate Citizen Science programs for public engagement. I manage the content of educational signage regarding resident animals and outdoor habitats. Bird of Prey Training: I organize training for several birds of prey, and directly train a red-tailed hawk, a great-horned owl, and a bald eagle for education programs. Grounds: I maintain 3 miles of trails for the ease of Earthplace visitors. I participate in a Grounds Committee to plan and implement techniques for invasive species removal and native plant restoration. I propagate native plant species to disseminate into the larger Fairfield County community. I created a deer exclosure project that will document an area inaccessible to deer and compare to a similar area overbrowsed by deer to demonstrate the importance of a growing forest understory.Supervision: I oversee the daily direct care of resident animals done by two Animal Care Technicians, and coordinate a team of volunteers and interns for animal care and trail maintenance.Strategy: I engage as a member of the Strategy Action Committee to make Earthplace's vision and mission a reality.

I created programming for middle school underprivileged children in an organic gardening and composting program at an inner city school.4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H is the non-formal youth development program of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Belonging to a nationwide educational network with other land-grant universities, 4-H staff and Cooperative Extension offices are located in almost every county in the United States. Connecticut 4-H is the youth development program of the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System. The Cooperative Extension System brings research-based information to Connecticut citizens in their own communities.

I lead nature and science programming for school groups on a nature preserve.Our mission is to conserve Connecticut’s environment through science-based education and advocacy focused on the state’s bird populations and their habitats.

GBAPP’s mission is to serve the Greater Bridgeport community through education, collaboration, and intervention by empowering individuals to make informed healthy decisions. GBAPP works to: ■Reduce teen pregnancy; ■Reduce the spread of HIV; ■Increase access to care and supportive services; ■Enhance positive relationships; and ■Promote personal responsibility.Current Projects:Events and Fundraising: I am organizing this year's fundraiser, City Kidz Got Skillz. I also play a part in the grantwriting team to fund programs to achieve GBAPP's mission.Marketing and Social Media: I provide our online presence through Twitter and Facebook, as well as maintain our website. I also create pamphlets, flyers, and layout our annual report.Past Projects:Project Director of Lighthouse After-School Site: I managed an after-school program grant. I prepared and implemented professional development training to the staff, developed programming, maintained the budget and payroll, and prepared monthly invoices for the grantor.Peer Educator Trainer: I developed and implemented a Peer Educator program. I designed a curriculum, enrolled teens, and organized trainings and events.Human Sexuality Educator: I facilitated classes on reproductive health in Bridgeport high schools.Event Planning: I organized and promoted the 5th Annual City Kidz Got Skillz, a city-wide art exhibit and performance for Bridgeport residents ages 18 and under, which drew around 60 contestants, 25 volunteers, and 70 audience members; and also organized the Annual GBAPP Poetry Slam.

Public Allies' mission is to advance new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits and civic participation. Public Allies is changing the face and practice of leadership in communities across the country by demonstrating our conviction that everyone can lead, and that lasting social change results when citizens of all backgrounds step up, take responsibility, and work together. Service: I completed 1750 hours of volunteer service and leadership training in a ten month span through my placement at GBAPP, and service days where I volunteered at a nursing home, planted in a community garden, and volunteered with the women's service organization Soroptimist.

Production: Managed a team of nine in producing scenery, costuming, and lighting for the play OthelloEducation: Participated in "Safe Dates" training to address issue of Teen Dating Violence in Bridgeport, CT

Afterschool Programming: designed and proposed leadership and service-learning classes to students ages 11-19 to attract new funding; devised summer courses for children and evening adult learning courses to cater to community needsEvent Planning: facilitated silent auction, book drives, clothing drives, and other fundraisers; aided Director of Youth Services in producing performances and art exhibits; coordinated teen volunteersEducation: instructed classes in leadership, service-learning (Roots & Shoots), painting, creative writing (Power Hour), Middle Eastern Dance, and Sparks (history curriculum involving summer travel funded by the Tauck Foundation) to students ages 4-19

Service: Completed 1800 hours of volunteer service and leadership training in a ten month span.Team Project: Collaborated with City Hall and local nonprofits to implement an urban beautification and youth engagement project in Bridgeport. Coordinated nearly 20 workshops to produce 2 public murals, 1 community garden, and a city sweep day in 21 neighborhoods. Almost 300 volunteers were involved throughout the project.
