As my attached resume outlines, I have over 16 years of experience working in the special education early childhood field. I am compassionate and a team player, attributes I know are important to any organization. I'm currently working as a SEIT (Special Education Itinerant Teacher) mostly in lower Manhattan. I work directly with students aged 3-5 years old providing them with special education services according to their IEPs in a general education setting. Students that are assigned to me have a range of disabilities, varying from mild academic or speech delays, behavioral concerns, sensory issues, to some students on the Autism spectrum. I travel to different public schools and daycares to service my students and provide special education support to them by modifying lessons as needed and ensure my students are fully participating and engaged to the best of their abilities. I often utilize my past experience as a Pre-K teacher when leading age-appropriate activities to practice social skills or review or reinforce a lesson. My current job also entails writing quarterly and annual progress reports as well as drafting new IEPs and goals for students. I enjoy supporting my young students with fun activities and watching them achieve new skills and overcome challenging behaviors. I have always enjoyed working with younger children and have learned to embrace the many challenges that can arise in the early childhood classroom setting. I'm familiar with the early childhood age range 3-5 years (3K, PreK, and Kindergarten) and am confident my skills, personality, and experience make me a good fit for any organization.
