Currently working across Electrical and Platform Management Systems teams to support the Customer on the Canadian Surface Combatant Programme. Main responsibilities involve:- Contributing to governance covering Lifecycle Management, Product Safety, Quality and Legal and Regulatory compliance. - Developing Engineering Outputs associated with Electrical Distribution Systems. - Assisting in the preparation of Engineering schedules. - Providing support with upcoming Design and Assurance Reviews. - Developing, document and analyse all the design solutions for Electrical and PMS teams. - Developing and implementing solutions to identify Customer's requirements and support development of acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities focused primarily on the design and maturity of electrical schematics for various systems while ensuring that they conform and comply with Lloyds Naval Rules. - Establishing users' requirements for improvement- Reviewing suppliers information in order to create electrical schematics- Cable Management: Routing of cables, sizes and loads. - Ensuring weight and cost budgets are met and not exceeded.- Lead Quality Team Leader for Engineering Quality Issues - Engineering Governance.- Quality Control and Assurance. - Leading the team to meet highest of standards in order to fulfill Customers' Requirements and MoD's. - Production of Technical Notes.- Review of Ships Electrical Designs.- Product Safety and Environment Committee.

Chairman's Awards is a BAE Systems wide reward and recognition scheme which celebrates success of our people across the business, recognising where employees have excelled in the categories of Innovation, Enhancing Customer Performance, Supporting our Total Performance Culture and Transferring Best Practice. The role of being Project Manager of Chairman's Awards involves working closely with the Naval Ships Communications Department on a part-time basis (three days out of five) to help deliver the awards within the Naval Ships business. My responsibilities is as follows: • Assist in the organisation and facilitation of bronze and silver judging panels from June until October. • Coordinate the presentation of the awards to teams within the business from members of the Management Committee prior to the event. The aim is to shape the event to become more celebratory than the ‘Graduation Format’ used in previous events. This will involve photo opportunities with the winners and filming with silver nominees in advance of the events in Scotland and England. • Help shape and deliver the two Bronze Award events to the business.

Through drawing from my experience as a student, I aided teachers in their classrooms and encourage the pupils to engage in scientific experiments and expanded their knowledge by being creative, passionate about the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields. The types of activities that Ambassadors can typically support include: •assisting with STEM clubs•helping add a work-related learning perspective to curriculum topics•providing an insight into career opportunities arising from STEM qualifications•facilitating workplace visits where appropriate•working as mentors•attending careers fairs•and judging competitions.

Year 4:Research and Project Methods; Individual Project; Professionalism in Practice, DigitalSignal Processing, Vision Processing, Systems Level Design, Robotics, WirelessCommunications.Final Year Dissertation (15,000 words):The project title is "An investigation into applications of anemometers for Renewable Energy Systems" In summary, the project investigates the different types of anemometers, clearly illustrating the advantages and disadvantages of different designs along with research into different anemometer applications. A prototype will then be designed using suitable computer programs such as CAD based i.e. PROEngineer and/ or PSpice for designing circuits.

During this year long volunteer schemeI had set out to become an inspiring mentor for first and second year students at Glasgow Caledonian University. I had a clear plan with set objectives as follows: • Assist the mentee to establish realistic career goals and plan how to achieve them.• Act as a sounding board when the mentee wants to talk through decisions and ideas.• Challenge the mentee to face up to opportunities and problems, personal strengths and weaknesses.• Act as a gateway to other people and sources of knowledge.• Seek opportunities to help the mentee practise and develop key skills for the future.• Pass on know-how and essential thinking patterns and attitudes that might go with a different role or set of responsibilities.• Generate workable solutions together in a mutually respectful way.• Motivate, advise and support whilst empowering the mentee to make their own decisions and take responsibility for their own actions and development.This was a great chance for me to learn how to encourage other students to strive for the best as everyone has the potential to achieve their academic goals whilst taking up other responsbilities to ensure that they are on the right track of doing so. By setting out a more relaxed atmosphere, it was possible to aid students to create their own agenda on how to achieve their goals without feeling the pressure of deadlines thus building up their self-confidence and by drawing from my own experience and knowledge, to expand their knowledge of various subjects I had studied in.
