• Applications for both lay and professional deputyships and appointment of attorneys. • Certificate provider for powers of attorney. Advising clients and their families of their options if I am unable to do so. • Arranging the clearance and sale of clients assets and properties, instructing Estate Agents and Conveyancers.• Advice from Independent Financial Advisors, instructing Accountants to prepare tax returns and checking clients eligibility for benefits. • Preparing and filing OPG102 and OPG105, making applications for OPG fee rebates.• Making applications to the Court of Protection regarding property transfers and increasing security bonds.• Managing direct payment funds for clients and paying their assistants or care support and appropriate tax and pensions. • Supporting clients who have benefited from a personal injury award. Liaising with Social Workers, case managers, and health professionals to try and ensure our clients receive the support they need. • Undertaking annual visits required under the Professional Deputy standards. Discussing with the client, appropriate relatives and carers about items the client needs or might benefit from. • Providing safeguarding advice to colleagues in different departments and meeting with their clients. Raising a Safeguarding alert and liaising with the Safeguarding team after the concern has been raised. • Representing the firm at the Northampton and Northamptonshire Dementia Action Alliance meetings and attending the Northamptonshire Healthwatch Adult and Social Care Planning group. • Speaking at Alzheimers Cafes, give presentations to Northampton Borough Council, Northamptonshire Acquired Brain Injury Conference and at Tollers Annual Conference on elder abuse issues. • Writing articles and information for the Tollers website and Solicitors for the Elderly.

I joined Tollers in August 2014 working closely with the Elderly and Vulnerable Unit and the Court of Protection Team acting for clients and their families who had suffered from Neglect and Abuse in Care Homes.

Associate Equivalent September 2011 to August 2014 I used my fifteen years Personal Injury experience in pursuing claims to obtain the appropriate damages for my clients including complex claims for loss of earnings, past and future care due to their injuries. I have brought and been successful in two appeals with settlement terms being reached just prior to the Appeal Hearing.

I joined Shoosmiths in December 1994 as a Fee Earner working initially in the Financial Institutions Department undertaking non-defended Litigation. Then in April 1997 I moved to Claimant Personal Injury Fee Earner main caseload within the Fast Track with experience Employers, Occupiers and Public Liability with some cases in the Multi Track.
