At NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I'm the Digital News and Media Manager leading an award-winning team producing news, video and social media to keep the world engaged with our missions studying Earth, the planets, asteroids, comets, stars and galaxies. It's a busy universe! We produce over 400 news releases and articles per year, plus dozens of multimedia and interactive products. In social media, we earn millions of impressions per month with engaging and organic content. In 2018 and 2019, we took home back-to-back Emmy awards for Outstanding Original Interactive Program. Back in 2008, I created NASA's first Twitter account, @MarsPhoenix, a groundbreaking step for the agency and the platform (link below). Today, I manage accounts across multiple social platforms reaching millions of followers. To increase our reach in social media, I created the "NASA Tweetup". Now called "NASA Socials," over 150 events have been held at NASA facilities around the country creating thousands of social ambassadors who promote NASA to their audiences. The popular program was later adopted by businesses, international space agencies, and even the Obama White House. I established NASA's first interactive live-streaming events, I've guest blogged for Gizmodo, I'm a frequent speaker at SXSW (10+ years), and I'm an invited guest speaker to organizations ranging from NATO to the Online News Assoc. My work has won Webby awards, a SXSW Interactive award, the RNASA Space Communicator Award, and Shorty Awards. From NASA, I received the agency's Exceptional Service medal. Best of all, I'm the proud mom of a son and daughter who are launching their own careers.
