Italian born, I moved to Asia in 2012 to give legs to my academic background in Chinese studies. I lived and worked firstly in Shanghai, and currently in Hong Kong, where I’ve been able to develop my professional expertise, growing inside Coop Far East from a young merchandiser, up to my current position of General Manager of the Hong Kong office.Having three words only to describe myself in and out the office, those would be: curiosity, determination and ethic:Curiosity and sense of adventure is what had always driven me to go down not well-trodden paths. It all started when at the age of 16 I experienced living for a year with a Chinese family: this extraordinary experience has taught me to have a constant thirst to learn, and that it is often from unexpected situation that you get the most. Curiosity is also what makes me so passionate about sourcing: I’ve always loved products, it excites me to see an idea on a screen becomes reality: the process behind it, the smell of the raw material in the factories, the sense of accomplishment of that same product on the shelves.I believe that being curious is necessary to keep oneself motivated and grow constantly in career and in life.About determination, my judo master used to say that nothing is difficult to a man that has persistence. I’ve applied the same determination to every step of my career, starting as a merchandiser and achieving the role of General Manager at 32 years old.Growing up in a small family entrepreneurial environment, it helped me develop a solid work ethic: I’m a loyal and trustworthy resource, I put in my job the same dedication I’ve seen in my family in their own business. Now, as the General Manager of a company, I’m compelled to pass on that same dedication and ethical values to my team, with the aim to build an honest and straightforward environment, based on effective communication.Given a natural empathy, I find it rewarding to inspire and motivate others.
