About Veronika Lišková

Veronika graduated from cultural studies at Charles University and screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She was the editor-in-chief of the Novy Prostor magazine and contributed film reviews to various sites and journals. She has been working as a film director, documentary script editor and curator. Parallel to that, Veronika has profound programme/project management experience. Between 2012-2017 she headed the Ex Oriente Film training programme and East European Forum pitching at the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague. Between 2019-2021, she worked as a curator and acquisition manager at the DAFILMS VOD platform. Currently, she cooperates with various documentary film training programmes and markets as a consultant and selector. She also serves as a documentary expert for Czech Cinema Fund. Veronika's feature-length debut Daniel’s World had its international premiere in the Panorama section of the Berlinale – Berlin IFF in 2015 and since then has been screened and awarded at numerous film festivals worldwide. In 2016 she received Pavel Koutecky Award for her short documentary Kohoutkova. Her second feature documentary, The Visitors, premiered at the Semaine de la Critique in Locarno in 2022. Currently, she is preparing her debut fiction project as a director (working title: Year of the Widow), travels the festivals with The Visitors, and cooperates with the other documentary makers as a dramaturgist and script editor.
