The project consists of 50,000 SF of both pediatric and adult clinic areas, retail areas for Sports, Ortho, Cardio, and Speech Therapy.University Health System, San Antonio, TX HDR was selected to design the multidiscipline, multispecialty follow-up clinics in approximately 71,000 DGSF on the 2nd floor once occupied by surgery. The clinic is designed to be cost effective, promote quality healthcare, improve the patient experience and be flexible and adaptable to meet future needs or programs.

Houston Methodist Hospital, North Tower Project – VIP Floor, Houston, TXThis high profile floor containing 27 beds with 6 suites, amenities include a 24 hour chef kitchen, high tech security system, concierge services, and family areas for groups accompanying patients. Patient demographic targeted overseas patients and dignitaries. Acute Care Patent Room Mock-Up, Houston, TXThis high profile project was used to guide decisions of the North Tower Project Acute and ICU patient rooms. Full scale, full finish, operable mock-up had over 700 users review and survey. Results from mock-up guided senior leadership decisions in project. Task light study was carried out to determine final fixtures in Nurse work zone, medicine dispensing zone, and charting zones.Houston Methodist Hospital, North Tower Project, Houston, TXThis new patient tower in the Texas Medical Center will replace patient beds in Houston Methodist Hospital’s original Main building and add highly advanced heart and neurosurgery operating rooms. The 960,000 sf inpatient tower, which will be located next to Houston Methodist Hospital, will have capacity for 390 beds (including 102 intensive care beds), expanded operating suites,hybrid suites, and a dedicated cardiology floor with 14 interventional catheterization labs. The new high-tech operating rooms will dramatically expand Houston Methodist’s ability to provide image-guided heart and brain procedures allowing for minimally invasive treatment of conditions that once required open surgery.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) announced the Man & Woman of the Year winners who collectively raised over $585,000. For 10 weeks, 20 local professionals – 12 women and 8 men competed for the title Man & Woman of the Year. Emcee Brent Clanton of News 92 FM announced the winners of this record-breaking fundraising event that nearly doubled last year’s proceeds. Every dollar the Candidates raised counted as one “vote” and the Candidates with the most votes were named the winners. Verr Soltes of H-E-B, was named Woman of the Year and raised an incredible $100,265. These numbers broke records across Texas and will be recognized on a national level.

Lead development and implementation of new leasing program that brings outside businesses within H-E-B. Responsibilities include budgeting store income for 300 stores, identifying tenants by store demographics and to complement H-E-B offerings, writing and negotiating lease agreements, approving tenant buildout drawings, coordinating buildout with building systems department, and managing facilitation of tenant opening. Launched program and individually contributed multimillion to the net profit of the company for 2011.Recognized the opportunity to reduce construction costs through more effective management of costly change orders. Facilitated meetings between leasing, construction, and design departments proposing collaboration on issues that added cost to construction projects. Created schedule to transmit information and then developed and implemented checklists for design, construction, and buildout of lease spaces. RESULT: Increased interdepartmental teamwork and communication which lowered the number of change orders in the field, thus reducing added expenses by an average of 90%.

Served as design architect for five large-scale store remodels or conversions with budgets up to $6M. Responsibilities included client/ consultant meetings, scheduling, site design, store programming, review of consultant drawings, and millwork design.Design-Build Efficiency, System Development. Streamlined design-build processes to manage collection of historical data from internal customers, delivered design solutions to customers, balanced tight schedule, and satisfied needs of diverse customers within multiple departments. Collected and examined products from equipment to finishes in order to satisfy internal customer requests, and interfaced with vendors for information and details on their products to coordinate innovative design solutions. RESULT: Generated revenues more rapidly from early completion and opening of store locations by increasing collaboration and communication, which facilitated timely updates on fast-track, design-build projects.Corporate Strategy, LEED Focus. Championed application of LEED principles before certification availability. Researched and promoted purchase of locally produced building materials and gained corporate buy-in to integrate LEED requirements into project management. RESULT: Early incorporation of LEED principles ultimately led to state and national recognition for building LEED-certified stores.

Served as planner for Texas and Mexico to work with regional planning staffs on multifaceted issues, including facility growth and furniture standards, move coordination, and regional workgroups.Adaptive Reuse, Strategic Agility. Supervised redesign of an existing office suite and coordinated inventory and retrofit to meet the needs of the new occupant. Reconfigured offices and conference rooms and then managed existing onsite furniture and fixtures to outfit the facility. RESULT: Saved $12M of the capital budget by eliminating the need to build a new facility for the new business unit.Process Improvement, Customer Focus. Designed and implemented policies and procedures for Austin design groups in their requests for facility changes and then budgeted and scheduled reconfiguration and purchase of office furniture and equipment. RESULT: Developed and directed facility work onsite, increasing customer satisfaction, decreasing costs required by remote teams when serving customers, and reducing turnaround time to 20% of previous process.Client Cost-Saving Initiatives, Adaptive Reuse. Planned and coordinated large-scale facility consolidation to compress 500 workstations and infrastructure while accommodating 700 office spaces on 4 floors. Interviewed customers, met with various departments and disciplines to schedule and coordinate physical moves, coordinated additional furniture purchases, and oversaw incremental steps to complete the project. RESULT: Accomodated the 40% increase in employees while avoiding additional lease cost.

Responsible for daily operations and bottom line of all projects. Served as architect for design-build projects (including clean room-type switch facilities), coordinating consultants, client, and city officials in Kansas City, Missouri, and several cities within California. Managed budgeting, scheduling, package coordination, client/consultant meetings, and construction administration.Increased Efficiencies, Revenue Generation. Identified opportunities to reduce costs and generate revenue by designing and managing the building and furnishing of office space in-house. Successfully completed initial project internally, developed a business plan for marketing externally, wrote policies and procedures, hired support, and initiated a strong marketing campaign. RESULT: Increased the overall profit 30% by handling design and planning in-house, then offering these services in a design-build package to generate repeat business.

Previous assignment as Interior job captain for Tokyo Disneyland on Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall: a fast track, 500-seat restaurant built in Fantasyland. Responsibilities included Interiors package, client meetings in Tokyo, and serving as project architect for stateside team.
