We conduct applied software engineering research, in collaboration with software companies. We develop and apply innovative best practices in large-scale software engineering projects. For example, in one of our recent consultancy engagements, we have been providing consultancy in the scope of Software Test Automation, to Testinium Corporation, based in Istanbul, Turkey, since Jan. 2019. I have been leading a team of 5+ test engineers in the company to increase capability and effectiveness of test automation. Practices such as: model-based testing and best practices (patterns) for test automation. -Conducted applied software engineering research, in collaboration with software companies for applying best practices in large-scale software engineering projects-In one of the consultancy / applied research engagements, I provided consultancy in the scope of software test automation, to HAVELSAN A.Ş., Ankara, Turkey, between 2015-2017 on the following topics: Implementation of test automation for several test groups, Assessing and improving an in-house test automation framework, Establishing a systematic, effective and efficient GQM-based measurement program for the testing directorate, assessment and improvement of maturity of test processes and practices using TMMI and TPI-Next. I led a team of 10+ test engineers in the company to increase capability and effectiveness of test automation. Our efforts led to substantial improvements in capability and effectiveness of test automation-In another consultancy / applied research engagement, I provided consultancy in the scope of software test automation, to Innova IT Solutions A.Ş., Ankara, Turkey, in the scope of software test process improvement, test automation improvement. Empirical results from the field confirmed the effectiveness of our improvement activities.-As a Principal Investigator (PI), I secured 4 (four) grants from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), with combined value of ₺326K Turkish Liras-Taught software engineering and software testing courses-Provided leadership and serving in various departmental and university committees-Co-founded and led the Hacettepe University Software Engineering Research Group (HUSE) http://huse.cs.hacettepe.edu.tr

-Conducted applied software engineering research, in collaboration with software companies for applying best practices in large-scale software engineering projects-In one of the consultancy / applied research engagements, I provided consultancy in the scope of software test automation, to Pason Systems Corp., in Calgary, Canada in 2013. The goal was to improve the cost effectiveness of software testing activities and processes. Measurements (empirical results) from the field confirmed the effectiveness of our improvement activities.-In another the consultancy / applied research engagement, I provided consultancy in the scope of software test automation, to MR Control Systems International Inc. (MRCSI). We developed a tool named AutoBBUT for automated test-code generation for black-box unit testing. The tool was successfully deployed in practice.-As a Principal Investigator (PI), secured 6 (six) grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), with total value of $678K Canadian CND-Taught software engineering and software testing courses-Founded and led the Software Quality Engineering Research Group (SoftQual)-Provided leadership and serving in various departmental and university committees
