Calyxt Inc is a Synthetic Biology company with leading edge technology for producing valuable biochemicals using plant cell metabolomics. Built out end-to-end AI/ML capabilities on Azure to power their new strategy leveraging PlantSpring and BioFactory technologies for synthesizing high-demand chemicals for nutrition, pharma, cosmetics ,and other companies.• Launched a company-wide initiative to capture detailed data for every step of the SynBio process to feed data-hungry AI/ML algorithms. Spearheaded the move to cloud by designing and building Azure infrastructure and data models to capture, collate, and rapidly search and retrieve comprehensive and detailed data. Foundational for the new direction.• Designed and fabricated a fully automated and instrumented mini-BioFactory to capture detailed data during the growth of the Plant Cell Matrix (PCM) used to produce biochemistries. Sensor signatures detected in the data helped identify contamination issues very early, enabling remediation steps to salvage production batches.• Developed cornerstone AI/ML algorithms for recording PCM growth accurately, identifying optimal gene edit vectors, and automating pathway discovery for secondary metabolite synthesis. These essential capabilities accelerate synthesis and delivery of each new target biochemical compound for Calyxt’s customers.
