My experience in geological field work thus far has been challenging yet extremely rewarding. Every experience I have, I learn that there is no limit to the knowledge that we receive and can pass onto others. My outstanding examples of field work are as follows:- I was awarded an opportunity to work on a USGS EDMAP grant, accompanying my advisor and 2 graduate students on a 3-week mapping expedition in the Adirondack Mountains of New York in August 2020. The experience involved collecting samples to be analyzed for mineral assemblages, producing thin sections, and creating a digitized geological map of our study area.- I completed a 1-week field methods course in the Southern Nopah Mountain Range of Death Valley, California in Spring 2023. The course entailed constructing a stratigraphic column, a geological map, a cross section, and a field report.- I also completed a 4-week field camp through San Jose State University in central eastern Nevada in Summer 2023. The course entailed constructing a stratigraphic column, 4 geological maps, 4 cross sections, and a field report.In classroom settings, during field trips, and during field surveys I became very familiar with the use of Brunton's, Jacob's Staffs, and other survey tools. I can easily read topographic maps and use triangulation to decipher my location if Iam not certain of my position in the field. I also learned how to do effective note taking in the field. Shorthand, sketching, stratigraphic columns, and more are a part of my meticulous note taking skillset.
