Profile bio

About Viannca Vélez

Currently I oversee the communication strategy for the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute in New York City, NY.In this role, I am responsible for the public perception of CCCADI, including the development of the marketing and communication strategies of the organization. Prior to joining CCCADI, I led the communication strategy for the Seton Hall Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy department. As Director of Alumni Communication & Digital Engagement, I also oversaw the department's ongoing digital engagement program, including leading the department's webinar series, launching, producing and hosting Pirate's Eye, the University's alumni podcast, and executing the digital strategy for the department's various crowdfunding campaigns. Over my nearly 6 years with the university, my communication strategies for Seton Hall's fundraising campaigns, such as Day of Caring in 2020, led to tremendous success with over 1450 donors in 36 hours and more than $365,000 raised. In 2019, my video marketing strategy for Seton Hall's second annual Giving Day resulted in the campaign exceeding its goal of 1856 gifts in 36 hours by nearly 200 donors. Much of what I applied during my time at Seton Hall came from learning the ropes of the world of advancement and nonprofit education during my time at Marist High School where I coordinated the marketing efforts for the school's alumni and fundraising events, as well as individual solicitation plans and grant writing.Prior to entering the advancement profession, I worked in broadcast media. My experience spans from technical, as a freelance Audio II and Prompter Operator at Sportsnet New York (SNY), an NBC Universal affiliate, to production as a field-producer of video segments for New Generation Latino (NGL) Media, and journalism as a one-man-band video journalist for FiOS1 News - Long Island covering community and human interest pieces. Using storytelling to help organizations meet and surpass their goals is my superpower.Specialties: Storytelling, Interviewing, Voicing, Podcasting, Editing Audio and Video, Camera Work, Social Media, Fundraising, Event Planning, Digital and Print Communications.

Listed skills include Final Cut Pro, Social Media, Blogging, Editing, and 28 others.
