I wanted to be a pilot, but my parents told me it was better to be a doctor or an engineer. Chose engineering (no regrets) and landed up at IIT Bombay, where I learned to fly in other ways. Started my first entrepreneurial venture, Babajobs, with my former boss. It was sold to Quikr. Started up again: CoCubes, with my friend and IITB roommate. It was sold to Aon Hewitt.Now on to my third start-up, OneBanc, which seeks to transform banking and financial services with innovative offerings driven by digital technologies. Many of my colleagues are friends I made at CoCubes. I guess I can convince people to leave their cushy jobs and take risks. After CoCubes was acquired, found the time — and, for the first time, the money — to learn flying and get a pilot’s licence. It is fun to fly like a bird with a plane that has windows that open! It is also fun to build businesses that solve meaningful problems at a large scale. To use a metric people relate with, OneBanc hopes to be value at $25 billion by 2025.
