- Redesigned the battery cooling system for the 2019 MSOE Formula Hybrid vehicle- Underwent the complete design process from planning, to design and then prototyping- Manipulated the air flow pattern inside the Lithium-ion battery module, to concentrate all the cool air towards the center of the battery module- Designed parts of the cooling system, like air flow barriers, dust and water guards, intake scoops with air compressor unit, inlet and exhaust fans, using SolidWorks- Extensively used ANSYS Mechanical to create and analyze detailed FEA and CFD models of the cooling system- Worked with thermocouples and DAQ units, to gauge the temperature rise within the battery box- Calibrated the battery control unit to maintain optimal battery temperature range, using MATLAB & Simulink- Created a BOM for the entire system, and reduced cost by around $1000- Reduced weight of the cooling system by 22%
